Here's how the Global SIM from SaveMoneyOnRoaming.com works:

Overview

  1. Use our rate finder tool to get the rates for the country you want to roam in.
  2. Click on "Buy now" to buy a Global SIM.
  3. You have a choice over how you receive incoming calls. You can either:
    • receive calls on your existing UK mobile number using Keep Your Number™; or
    • use the 0782 number supplied with your SIM, and get free incoming calls in many destinations
If you're using your existing UK number, ensure you divert your mobile to our intelligent switching platform before you leave the UK.
  4. Switch SIMs, putting your Global SIM into your phone.
  5. When you're abroad, you can receive calls either by Keep Your Number™ or on your 0782 number. You can make outgoing calls as normal.

Travelling to the US?
If you're travelling to the US, we have a slightly different service which lets you make and receive calls for just 10p per minute. See our cheap USA roaming page for more information.

Receiving calls abroad
As previously mentioned, you can receive calls abroad in different ways: Keep Your Number™, or with our 0782 range. With Keep Your Number™, you can divert calls from your existing UK mobile number to your Global SIM. This makes it very easy for people calling you, but you will have to pay to receive calls. Alternatively you can tell people to call you on your 0782 number. In many countries you can receive calls for free on this number, but unfortunately it won't be included in your caller's inclusive minutes. It might sound a bit tricky, but we suggest that you use both numbers. Let friends and family call you on your normal mobile number, but give others your 0782 number and let them pay.

Calling while abroad
Our Global SIM uses "call back", which means that you first dial your number as normal. It disconnects, but phone then immediately rings, and your call is put through as normal. (This may sound strange but it's actually very simple and you'll get full instructions in your uk2abroad welcome pack.)

Voicemail
While you're abroad you can use our voicemail system. We'll send you a text message whenever you've got a new message and you'll be able to listen to it, so you never miss an important call.
